Privacy policy
Who we are
InstallerHub Ltd (company number SC885689), registered office 94 Pit Lane, Dunfermline, KY12 9FJ, operates installerhubuk.com and the InstallerHub matching service. We don’t have a dedicated data protection officer – if you have a question about this policy, contact us using the details at the end.
What we collect, and why
If you’re a homeowner requesting a quote, we collect your name, phone number, email address and postcode, and a description of the job. We use it to match you with up to three vetted tradespeople in your trade and area, to let them contact you to quote, and to send you our own confirmation and updates by WhatsApp and email. Our basis for this is that it’s necessary to provide the service you’ve asked for.
If you’re applying to join as a tradesperson, we collect your name, business name, phone number, email, trade, coverage area, legal form, any registration numbers you give us (Companies House, Gas Safe, SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT), and a website or social link if you provide one. We use it to check you before you join, to run the rotation fairly, and to send you leads by WhatsApp. Checking every applicant protects the homeowners who trust the network and the other tradespeople in it – that’s our legitimate interest in carrying out these checks.
If you just visit the site, we collect standard technical data (your browser, roughly how you found us, which pages you visit) through cookies you can decline – see Cookies, below.
Who receives it
For homeowners: your name, phone number, postcode and job details go to up to three vetted tradespeople, matched by trade and area. Once we’ve made that introduction, they’re responsible for what they do with your details – our terms require them not to use it for anything else or pass it on.
For tradespeople: your details are checked against Companies House and the relevant trade register for your work (Gas Safe, SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT), and your subscription is handled by Stripe. The insurance certificate and cards you send us are read automatically to check the dates, names and numbers on them. If everything checks out you may be approved automatically; we never turn anyone down automatically – anything that doesn’t check out is looked at by a person.
For everyone, a small number of providers process data on our behalf so the service works:
- Hosting – Namecheap (United States), until we move to a European host later in 2026
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) – for lead adverts and for sending leads and messages by WhatsApp
- Stripe – for taking tradesperson membership payments
- Anthropic – reads job descriptions to work out which trade and area a job needs; reads the documents tradespeople send us, and searches for public information about an applicant’s business, as part of our checks; and, where Amy (our digital assistant, below) is answering a message from you, the message itself and a short practical profile of your past contact with us. Anthropic does not use anything it reads for us to train its own models.
- Make.com – helps route leads from our advertising into the system
- Companies House and the relevant trade registers – to check a tradesperson’s registration, for tradespeople only
We don’t sell your details to anyone, for any reason.
How long we keep it
- A homeowner’s name, phone number and job description: six months from when you contact us, then anonymised – we keep the trade, general area and date, not who you are, so we can track fairness across the network.
- An applicant who doesn’t go on to join: deleted six months after we last hear from you.
- A member’s personal details: deleted twelve months after membership ends. Invoices and payment records are kept for six years, as HMRC requires.
- Insurance and registration documents: kept only while you’re an active member, plus one further month.
- The short practical profile Amy, our digital assistant, builds from your conversations with us: kept only for as long as it stays useful to us, reviewed regularly, and deleted sooner on request – see below.
InstallerHub’s digital assistant
Some messages you send us by WhatsApp or email may be answered by Amy, our digital assistant, rather than a person. She never pretends to be a person, and will tell you plainly if you ask. Anything she cannot help with goes straight to a person at InstallerHub. We keep a short profile of practical details from our conversations with you – the kind of thing that helps us help you next time, such as what you have asked about before – and we never record anything about your health, disability, religion, ethnicity, sexuality or political or trade union views in it. You can ask Amy, or us, to stop contacting you at any time, and you can ask to see or delete this profile at any time using the contact details below.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. This includes any profile Amy, our digital assistant, has kept from your conversations with us. Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond within a month. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
We use a small first-party cookie to remember your cookie choice, and – only if you agree – analytics cookies that tell us roughly how the site is being used. You can accept or decline these when you visit; declining doesn’t stop the site working.
Children
This service is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if what we do changes, and update the date below when we do.
